Constructed originally as a female seminary, this
now Greek Revival four over four home stands on just under a half
acre lot within walking distance of the town Square and may be used
as a personal residence, Bed & Breakfast or other endeavors.
Much of the seminary growth began in 1839 under the direction of the notable Sarah W. Brackett of England. Under the leadership of a Mrs. Waddy, the school continued its program throughout the Civil War years into 1866 at only $16 per five month term. Due primarily to the interest of Adam L. Alexander and Samuel Barnett, the female seminary became one of the finest educational institutions for girls in the state. A Miss Bright was the head mistress when the seminary ceased operation in 1895. The home now consist of wide center halls up and down; double parlors, formal dining, large kitchen with island, four bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, wrap around porches as well as a large upstair balcony. There is also a GUEST COTTAGE on the property, currently leased providing additional income. BEST BUY! CALL TODAY! |
