"Other owners of this home following the builder Dr. J. F. Lemon include Samuel David Fanning and Paul D. Howard. Judge Fanning was Wilkes County Ordinary from 1910 - 1920. His only sister, Mrs. Tom Granade, was mother of Mr. C.C. Granade of Washington. After Judge Fanning's death in 1926 the house was rented and many families lived there over a period of several years."
